OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Going Beyond The Classroom

Outdoor education develops life skills that cannot be gained in the traditional classroom. It contributes significantly to the personal all-round development of youth. I addition, outdoor learning gets students to understand what it means to enjoy and respect the environment and also to care for it. Theoretical subjects come alive and make sense when a student is exposed to the reality of the natural world.

DEVELOPING LIFE SKILLS

Today's competitive academic environment puts increasing demands on students to spend greater and greater amounts of time in the classroom, and very little time outdoors. Outdoor education develops life skills that cannot be gained in the classroom and contributes significantly to the personal all-round development of a young person. Research in the West has proved that outdoor experiences actually strengthen academic learning. Outdoor programs instill in students a sense of responsibility, assist in building trust, self-confidence and a strong team spirit. Additionally, a lasting benefit of outdoor learning is that students learn to enjoy and respect the environment and also to care for it.

BENEFITS OF OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Students gain tremendously from their time outdoors. At Outbound Adventure, we use outdoor recreational activities, such as canoeing, rock climbing, camping, trekking and so on to create CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENTS in which STUDENTS LEARN THROUGH PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE. Our programs promote a sense of DISCOVERY and ADVENTURE. Outbound Adventure’s student training program put individuals in unfamiliar settings, challenging their capacity to make-do, improvise and find solutions to problems. Students are compelled to go beyond their comfort zones and achieve more than what they imagined they were capable of. They learn to work cooperatively in teams, instead of always being competitive. The outdoors is a particularly useful environment for learning because students are exposed to a variety of sensory stimuli not available in normal classroom settings. Not only will students HAVE FUN in the outdoors, they will learn to be INDEPENDENT and SELF-RELIANT. Senior students BENEFIT FROM Outbound Adventure’s programs with increased CREATIVITY,  blooming of LEADERSHIP QUALITIES and improved COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
